Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and optional profile information (bio, location, phone number, avatar photo). When you list items, we store your listing photos, descriptions, and pricing. We also collect usage data such as pages visited, items viewed, search queries, and interactions to improve your experience and personalise recommendations.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate the Platform, display your listings to potential buyers, facilitate messaging between users, send transactional notifications (new messages, sales, delivery updates, review reminders), personalise your feed, and improve our services. We use AI to assist with listing descriptions and content moderation. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
Addresses & Location Data
You may save pickup locations and delivery addresses. Pickup locations are only shared when you explicitly choose to in a conversation. Delivery addresses are only shared with our trusted delivery partners during an active delivery. We do not track your real-time location or share your addresses with other users without your consent.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase infrastructure with row-level security policies that ensure users can only access their own data. Photos are stored in encrypted cloud storage. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Cookies & Local Storage
We use cookies and local storage to maintain your login session, remember your preferences (such as theme and notification settings), and track recently viewed items. These are essential for the Platform to function properly.
Your Rights
You can update your profile information at any time through the Settings or Profile pages. You can delete individual listings at any time. To request account deletion, contact support@shelf.market. Upon account deletion, your personal information (name, bio, contact details, avatar) will be anonymised. Transaction records may be retained in anonymised form for accounting and platform integrity purposes.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the Platform. Each has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
- Vercel — hosting and content delivery
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — listing assistance and content moderation
- WAM — payment processing for checkout transactions
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Google Maps — address and location services
Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Inactive accounts may be flagged for review after 12 months of inactivity. Notification and activity data older than 90 days may be automatically cleaned up. Transaction records are retained for accounting and legal compliance purposes.
Children's Privacy
Shelf is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will take steps to remove their account and data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
